EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. - If Game 1 of the Stanley Cup finals was an
offensive bonanza for New Jersey and a comedy of errors for Dallas,
last night's Game 2 at the Meadowlands was a grueling tug of war,
with the Stars coming out on top, 2-1.
Brett Hull scored his second goal of the game with 4:16 left in
regulation to give Dallas the victory. Mike Modano set it up with a
pass to Jere Lehtinen in the left circle. Lehtinen, who switched from
his backhand to his forehand, got very little on his shot from
beneath the circle, but Hull beat goaltender Martin Brodeur with a
tip at 15:44, sending the deadlocked series to Dallas for Game 3
tomorrow night.
