Makes you wonder if it wouldn't be better to hold a Sophia Loren Look-Alike Contest, instead of a Marilyn Monroe Look-Alike Contest.

It appears that not many women in Rome can pass for Marilyn, the long-dead superstar who is very much alive in the hearts of Italians. Two, to be exact, if this weekend's contest was any gauge.

For the rest of the 50-odd contestants . . . well, one came bald, to give you an idea of how far off the mark this all looked. A bunch of others came brunet. Another had the right hair color but the style wrong; she was doing Jean Harlow, apparently.

In the end, it didn't seem to matter. What was billed as Rome's first Marilyn Monroe Look-Alike Contest was about things ...
