Article: BARAK, ARAFAT REPORTEDLY MEET ALONE AT CAMP DAVID

THURMONT, Md. - President Clinton returned to Camp David last night as Israeli and Palestinian envoys ended their third day of negotiations, rejoining a summit that has not yet reported progress and could continue longer than initially planned.

State Department officials refused to describe the substance of the talks, but said that Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak and Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat held their first face-to-face meeting without Clinton the night before. Flanked by aides, the two leaders met for about an hour in Arafat's lodging, then joined Clinton at a Mediterranean barbecue dinner that lasted late into Wednesday night, an official said.
