No, what Betsy Stead strives for is more the essence of Christmas than the trappings. "It's not Christmas music or red bows or the symbols of Christmas," she says. "It's the tasteful decor of a home."

And what a home. Betsy and her husband, Dick Stead, live in a renovated five-car garage in Peaches Point, a section of Marblehead that enjoys not only ocean views but conservation land and woods.
