ATLANTA - Come live here! It's got high art and hipsters! Sunshine
and sports! Fiber optics galore! Nice people who say hello!
But does it have a soul?
That's one thing they don't discuss in the Metro Atlanta Chamber
of Commerce's flashy new ad campaign, the one that tries to lure
young techies from cold, grumpy Boston to this modern mecca of
sunshine and steel. They're selling the good life down here: cheap
housing, friendly people, a critical mass of high-tech jobs, and -
actually, the ads don't say this, but it's true - bars that stay open
until 4 a.m.
But they don't really mention what Atlanta is, or where you can
find it. So the Globe went down to investigate, and we discovered
