Boston Globe editor Matthew V. Storin yesterday announced several
new assignments for Globe editors and the hiring of a new national
news editor, a round of editorial changes prompted by the upcoming
retirement of Thomas F. Mulvoy Jr., the veteran managing editor for
news operations.
Michael J. Larkin, currently assistant managing editor in charge
of the Sunday Globe, will become deputy managing editor/news
operations.
Larkin, 50, who in a Globe editing career that began in January
1974 has worked in nearly every department of the newsroom, will
assume Mulvoy's responsibilities for overseeing production of the
paper.
