WESTON - Only after some prodding - and, even then, with more than
a bit of reluctance - did second-year head coach Derek Bunting
acknowledge what some of his Rivers School boys' basketball players
had already divulged: Bunting believes the Red Wings are capable of a
perfect season.
The Rivers coach was reluctant to admit this not only because he
didn't want to have his words wind up on some Independent School
League rival's bulletin board, but also because he hadn't yet seen
the boys play as well as he believed they could, particularly at the
defensive end of the floor.
Earlier that day, though, the Red Wings regulars came close to a
peak performance.
