Article: TOWN MEETING REJECTS CLERKS' CONTRACT PLAN FINANCE COMMITTEE: STUDY WAS INADEQUATE

Town clerical union members, who have been working without a contract since June 30, face continuing uncertainty after Wrentham Town Meeting rejected an agreement that would have increased pay and created new titles for the top support staff in individual departments.

"We're disappointed," said Tami Chassie, principal clerk in the selectmen's office, after the contract lost Monday night in a 87-72 vote. "We expected this to be resolved."

At the Special Town Meeting, residents approved a new salary range for the town administrator position, $65,000 to $85,000, which will allow selectmen to formally embark on negotiations to renew a contract with Ed Gil de Rubio.
