PAWTUCKET, R.I. - The tear continues for enigmatic Pawtucket
slugger Izzy Alcantara.
The PawSox designated hitter launched three home runs and drove in
five runs last night in an 8-7 win over the Durham Bulls to further
state his case for a spot with the parent club. Alcantara is now
hitting .347 with 21 home runs and 51 RBIs.
"Yeah, I'm happy here," he said after the game. "[But] I'm waiting
for my chance, for another chance. I'm doing a good job here and I'm
waiting for my chance."
After flying out in his first at-bat, Alcantara launched the first
pitch he saw in the fourth 400-plus feet to left-center. In the
sixth, he tagged a 1-1 pitch for another two-run bomb. And, after
