Article: MAYOR WANTS BETTER SERVICE FROM UTILITY

Taking another swipe at Boston's electric utility, Mayor Thomas M. Menino yesterday urged the state attorney general to help force electric distributors to be more customer-friendly.

With South Boston businesses without power yesterday afternoon and thousands of homeowners in Hyde Park, Mattapan, Brighton, and Dorchester down for much of the weekend, the mayor issued his second complaint of the week about poor customer services from NStar, the city's lone electric distributor.

"Where does deregulation work? The consumer always loses," said Menino, whose own Hyde Park home was in the dark for about four hours.
