HINGHAM - On most Tuesday nights, a group of people from a variety of professions gather at the Memorial Bell Tower on Main Street here to use muscle and mind in pursuit of an art form that arrived in this country before the Revolutionary War.

In fact, it is said that it was Paul Revere's practice as a change bell ringer from the age of 15 that made him familiar with the tower of the Old North Church from which the heralded lanterns blazed on the night of his famous ride.

In Hingham these days, the 70-foot brick bell tower is the only one in New England where anyone can try their hand at change bell ringing.
