In the late 1970s, an odd craze swept the nation. Ordinary people began to purchase full-size vans. Entire companies were hatched solely to provide customers with the goods they needed to transform their ordinary panel vans into rolling pleasure palaces. Shag carpet and CB radios festooned the dash, and wild paint schemes including misogynistic murals coated the exterior.

Today, there are really just two manufacturers still in the full- size van business: Ford and General Motors (the Chevrolet and GMC divisions sell versions of the same van).
