Responding to growing complaints from members and doctors, the
state's two largest health insurers will raise fees for child
psychiatrists next month in hopes of making it easier for members to
get appointments.
Executives at Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Massachusetts and
Tufts Health Plan said they are raising fees to encourage more
psychiatrists to join their provider networks - and to persuade the
ones who already belong to make more appointments available to their
members. Tufts also is raising fees for child psychologists and
social workers and for all mental health workers who treat adults.
