Two selectmen publicly urged fellow board member Dennis Gallagher
to resign Tuesday, saying his behavior toward a 71-year-old resident
last spring, and his subsequent lack of an apology, made him unfit to
continue as a top town official. The other two board members
condemned Gallagher's behavior but stopped short of calling for his
resignation. Gallagher, meanwhile, made it clear he has no intention
of willingly stepping down.
On Feb. 8 in Brockton District Court, Gallagher admitted to
sufficient facts on charges that he threatened voter Madelyn Kubiak
with bodily harm during an angry telephone call after last April's
