CBS Radio announced yesterday that it was canceling Don Imus's
nationally syndicated radio show, a long-running mix of shock-jock
rhetoric and political commentary that became a national lightning
rod after its host made a racially offensive remark last week.
News of the cancellation came eight days after Imus referred to
players on the Rutgers women's basketball team as "nappy-headed hos"
and one day after MSNBC announced that it was canceling its televised
simulcast of the show.
The decision was made amid a growing outcry, as public figures
from the Rev. Al Sharpton to Senator Barack Obama called for the
show's cancellation, advertisers fled, and some of the political and
media celebrities ...
