At least once in your life, maybe while bored during a classroom lecture, you have likely attempted to create a rough sketch of an airplane, bicycle, or automobile. And if you're like me, the results were less than spectacular.

But if you're Franz Von Holzhausen, doodling leads to sketches that might eventually become an auto show concept car such as the Mazda Kabura - introduced a year ago at the Los Angeles Auto Show - or the Nagare concept car Mazda unveiled in December at the latest LA auto show.

Von Holzhausen, Mazda's design director for North America, was drawing cars as a 2-year-old.

"You'll have to take my mother's word for that," he said.
