The Baltimore Orioles yesterday took another significant step in trying to ensure that their 1994 season ends with an October celebration or two. Their offseason free agent spending spree continued as they signed veteran third baseman Chris Sabo to a one-year contract worth $2 million plus incentives.

Sabo's deal could pay him approximately $2.5 million if he earns his performance and award bonuses, agent Jim Bronner and Orioles General Manager Roland Hemond said.
