PORTLAND, Maine - What once seemed like science fiction fantasy - a pleasure cruise through outer space - is becoming a possibility for ordinary folks, at least for those with fairly deep pockets.

"You don't have to be physically fit. You can weigh 300 pounds or have high blood pressure or diabetes. You can even be a smoker. We want space flight to be available to anybody," says Pamela Hurley- Moser, who heads Hurley Travel Experts, a travel agency here. She is one of 46 newly accredited space travel agents in the United States, one of only two in New England. Paul Largay in Waterbury, Conn. (largaytravel.com), is the other.
