All kinds of things kept pounding through his head last year.
It was like a jackhammer that wouldn't stop. There were issues and
injuries that just wouldn't go away, and Ellis Burks, the Red Sox'
most gifted athlete, couldn't wait for the season to end so he could
escape.
He told reporters not to bother him, that he'd be in
seclusion. He wanted to put everything about last season into a
six-foot grave and let the grass grow over it.
"Last year was an extremely difficult season for Ellis for a
