Jim Schoenfeld is a towering man with boyish looks and blond
hair - hair that might be gray before he gets done coaching the
Washington Capitals.
Schoenfeld left behind the television business today and
returned to coaching tonight as he worked his first game after
replacing the fired Terry Murray.
"I don't think it felt strange or foreign," Schoenfeld said
after the Capitals lost, 7-2, to the Buffalo Sabres. "The most
difficult thing was not knowing line combinations and having them at
the tip of my tongue."
Schoenfeld didn't know combinations because he was introduced
to the team - as a group - 1 hour and 45 minutes before the game.
