The arrival of the Tall Ships might inspire you to dig out the old
navy blazer from the closet and wear it down to the harbor along with
your old white linen pants and a yachting cap. And this year, as if
anticipating a summer with a nautical theme, designers and
manufacturers ventured further than the boating cliches. It started
when Ralph Lauren based his spring collection on the America's Cup
races and made mostly yachting clothes. Most were in refreshingly
non-naval colors of red and yellow and green.
Express based its spring/summer collection on St. Tropez, and most
of the shorts, leggings, bra tops and jackets are white, with the few
color accents done in a vivid Mediterranean ...
