Article: Keeping the soul in shape A psychotherapist's simple prescription

The title "Care of the Soul" suggests a do-it-yourself manual for handy mystics, the sort of thing you find on the shelves of a New Age book-tique between "Karma Cleansing Made Simple" and "How To Fix Up an Old Psyche."

But Brookline psychotherapist Thomas Moore says his new book isn't particularly trendy -- a lot of it is devoted to analyzing the soul content of ancient myths -- and is about self-discovery and self-acceptance rather than techniques for self-improvement and realization of one's potential, the gist of most pop-psych books.

"To be soulful is to be involved in the everyday problems of life," says Moore.
