Hundreds of angry youths march through the streets of a depressed
port city in eastern Germany. Chanting "Germany for the Germans!"
and shouting the Nazi salute "Sieg Heil!" they converge on a shelter
for foreigners in a desolate part of town.
Armed with knives, starter pistols and gasoline bombs, the mob of
"skinheads" attacks the shelter, setting it aflame. Even though
authorities have evacuated hundreds of Romanian gypsies and
Vietnamese workers, the crowd battles riot police for hours.
Such has been the scene in Rostock, Germany, over the last six
nights. None of the foreigners has been hurt, but more than 180
police officers have been wounded and hundreds of young neo-Nazis
arrested in ...
