Two days after a student at the Massachusetts Institute of
Technology was slain near campus, another student was assaulted
yesterday just blocks from the site of Friday's fatal stabbing.
Cambridge police said that a Roxbury man has been charged with
beating and trying to rob an 18-year-old MIT freshman whom he
allegedly struck on the head with a radio.
Ronald McMillan, 30, was apprehended almost immediately after the
6:30 p.m. altercation on Massachusetts Avenue near Albany Street,
said MIT spokesman Ken Campbell.
The student, whom authorities declined to identify, was treated at
MIT Medical Center and released, Campbell said.
