Article: More gays seeking US asylum

Peter Chau shudders at the thought of being deported to Hong Kong, where he says police continue to compile a "pink list" of homosexuals and where the people named could be forced to submit to "cures" such as electric shocks once the British colony returns to Chinese rule in 1997.

Chau, who is bisexual and lives in Boston, is among a small but growing number of people who are seeking asylum in the United States because they face persecution in their homeland due to their sexual orientation. His case apparently is the first in Massachusetts.
