WASHINGTON -- Honoring her vow to be a voice for children in
the White House, Hillary Clinton said last night that the "great
mission of this country" will be to help children to grow into
"productive and positive human beings."
Speaking at the annual dinner of the Children's Defense Fund,
Clinton urged Americans to do far more for children, saying, "We owe
our children more than we have been giving them."
"What on the earth could be more important than making sure
every child has the chance to be born healthy, to receive
immunizations and health care as that child grows, to be stimulated
