As brilliant as ever in the postseason, Curt Schilling helped give the Boston Red Sox some time off.

Schilling scattered six hits in seven masterful innings, David Ortiz and Manny Ramirez hit back-to-back home runs in the fourth and the Red Sox routed the Los Angeles Angels 9-1 on Sunday to finish a three-game sweep of their American League Division Series.

The Red Sox will open the AL Championship Series on Friday at Fenway Park against the Cleveland Indians or New York Yankees. The Indians lead that series 2-1.

Schilling, 40, isn't the power pitcher he once was, but he handled the Angels with relative ease. Even when the Angels loaded the bases early, he escaped.
