Joseph F. English, 95, professor emeritus of law at Catholic
University, died of pneumonia Feb. 19 at Manor Care nursing home in
Silver Spring. He had lived in the Washington area off and on since
the 1920s.
Dr. English joined the faculty in 1953 and retired in 1969. He
continued lecturing there until 1980.
He was a graduate of Catholic University, where he also received
a law degree and master's of law with an aviation specialty. He
received a doctorate in law from New York University. He also
studied at the American Academy of Dramatic Art in New York.
Dr. English practiced law in his native Scranton, Pa., from 1931
to 1943 and served as a city commissioner. He began working for the ...
