Two years ago, Coach Mike Harris took over a Lee High School
boys basketball team that was 3-19 the previous season. But Harris
said he found reasons to be optimistic.
"It was more tough times that year - several unusual things
happened - than not having the players," said Harris. "And it helped
to look up and see a Coby Turner there from Day One."
Harris, who had most recently coached the Washington-Lee
freshmen after a stint as an assistant at Tennessee State
University, has made Turner the focal point in a turnaround which
has the No. 4 Lancers 21-2 and winners of 20 straight after last
night's Virginia AAA Gunston District tournament final victory over
West Potomac.
