The next Metro stations in the District would be built in Fort
Lincoln, Georgetown, Adams-Morgan and along New York Avenue NE under
a proposal by city transit officials examining where to expand the
nearly complete 103-mile rail system.
Metro officials have asked local governments to recommend
possible extensions to the subway system's original lines, and by
May, they hope to have an idea where some new stations could be
built throughout the area.
The District's mass transit administrator, Art Lawson, said the
four areas identified by city officials have been rejected or not
considered for rail service in the past, but now could benefit from
having rail service.
