The Washington Capitals again showed that they are the hockey
equivalent of the Not Ready for Prime Time Players, losing 6-4 to
the Boston Bruins as former Capital Al Iafrate scored two goals,
including the game winner in the third period.
There was a sellout crowd, announced as 18,130, at USAir Arena
yesterday afternoon. There was a network television audience. There
was the subplot involving two recently swapped stars, Iafrate and
new Capitals center Joe Juneau. There were playoff implications,
serious ones for the Capitals, considerable ones for the Bruins. It
made for good theater, but the home half of the cast was still
learning lines when the curtain went up.
