D.C. police said yesterday that at least four assailants may
have been involved in Thursday night's mass shooting at an indoor
marketplace just north of downtown Washington.
The attackers, apparently in pairs, opened doors at opposite
ends of the O Street Market's main hallway and at least one gunman
at each entrance began to shoot, killing a teenager and wounding
eight other people in the cross-fire, police said.
Despite offering those details, however, police said at a news
conference yesterday that they had not figured out a motive for the
attack or identified any suspects in what Police Chief Fred Thomas
described as one of the most wanton acts of public violence he can
recall in ...
