Candles covered the guitar amps Friday night as Pearl Jam, Seattle's mega-band, decided the show must go on after learning of the suicide of Kurt Cobain, leader of Seattle's other mega-band, Nirvana. The Patriot Center's 10,000 ticket holders were hushed as lead singer Eddie Vedder, lit only by the candles, quietly sang the first song, "Release."
