No pop stars allowed

Local governments have been banned from splashing out on pop stars to host State-funded ceremonies in an effort to help combat graft, Xinhua News Agency said yesterday.

The State Council also ordered officials to crack down on extravagant spending on tourism junkets, elaborate receptions and luxurious offices, it said.
