EVER dreamt of giving up the day job and training to be a glass-
maker? Packing in the nine-to-five to construct ladderback chairs?
Or downing tools to become a stonemason? If you can demonstrate
commitment to your chosen craft, the Queen Elizabeth Scholarship
Trust (Qest) might be able to help you dodge the desk job. Qest's
mission is to foster the next generation of craftspeople, offering
biannual scholarships of between Pounds 2,000 and Pounds 15,000 to
help proteges extend their expertise with a range of skills from
basketmaking to upholstery, lime plastering to interior design.
