ALCS
There is no end to the cross-pollination in this American League
Championship Series between the Red Sox and Cleveland Indians, which
begins tonight at Fenway Park with 20-game winner Josh Beckett
facing 19-game winner C.C. Sabathia.
Indians manager Eric Wedge was drafted by Lou Gorman, caught
Roger Clemens in a brief go-round with the Sox, and still runs the
Strike One sports complex in Danvers. Sox manager Terry Francona
played for the Indians and later served as a special assistant to
general manager John Hart, becoming close with many current members
of the Cleveland front office. Francona's father, Tito, enjoyed his
best years playing for the Indians.
