A: Table salt is mined from underground salt deposits, sea salt is the residue of evaporated seawater and kosher salt can be mined or from the sea.

Chemically, there is little difference between the three. All are at least 97 percent pure sodium chloride, with trace elements of minerals, primarily magnesium and calcium compounds.
