I had all these illusions about taking in a few French novels
and maybe one history before leaving for France, but here it is the
day before departure and I haven't cracked one.
But there are still the magazines. As each has arrived in the
last several weeks, I have opened it up and gone straight to the
table of contents. Is there anything about Paris, where I'll be
staying for a few days on either end of my stay? Better yet,
anything about the Dordogne Valley in the South near Bordeaux, where
I'll be most of the time, with friends in a rented farmhouse?
Not much in the latter category, but Paris seems to be
everywhere in magazines these days. Is April in Paris a cliche that
editors ...
