With just three minutes remaining, Fabien Galthie, France's
seventh Grand Slam captain, left the field to rapturous applause and
disappeared down the tunnel, presumably to wash his hands ahead of
the presentation of the Six Nations Championship trophy.
The scrum-half and remarkable patron of this remarkable team could
have gone off for a shower and changed into black tie for the match
banquet at half-time, so comprehensive was this victory.
The final whistle sounded, and it was party time in Paris. The
Queen anthem We Are The Champions belted out across the Stade de
France. Champions of the world is how the lyrics continue. On this
