The Premier League are adding their muscle to the Football
League's battle for financial survival following the collapse of ITV
Digital by agreeing to give evidence in the High Court in support of
the League's pounds 500 million damages claim against the commercial
network.
Richard Scudamore, the Premier League chief executive, is to sign
a witness statement backing the Football League's contention that,
far from being separate entities, ITV Digital and the ITV network as
a whole are inextricably linked. By arguing that the two companies
are one and the same thing, the Football League's lawyers hope to
prove that the ITV network's shareholders - principally Carlton
