There were plenty of penguins and iguanas to distract Dawn Airey,
chief executive of Channel 5, on her three-week cruise round the
Galapagos Islands which ended on Thursday. But the woman who has
become Britain's most successful and sought after television
executive has had something even more diverting to keep her
preoccupied on holiday.
In a twist as dramatic as anything served up on Channel 5's Home &
Away soap opera, The Sunday Telegraph can disclose that in between
watching the wildlife, Airey has been secretly considering a multi-
million pound job offer, which she has now decided to accept, from
Rupert Murdoch's BSkyB.
