Article: ITV foiled as Dawn Airey signs for Sky in pounds 1m-a-year deal

DAWN AIREY, the head of Channel 5 whom ITV had hoped to recruit as its new chief executive, has been poached by BSkyB with a deal worth pounds 1 million a year.

In another blow to the ailing ITV network, which has suffered a severe slump in advertising and ratings, Ms Airey has been appointed managing director of Sky Networks. She will be responsible for running all Sky's channels, except Sky Sports, and will be in charge of programming.
