It is a singular achievement that the British Cheese Awards, under the aegis of the redoubtable Antipodean Juliet Harbutt, are celebrating their ninth birthday at the end of September. From modest beginnings, the awards have become a three-day event featuring more than 400 British cheeses. Most people are just about able, according to Juliet, to name five; and many of them include Brie and Edam.
