After a charmed career, Gary Lineker, football player, TV pundit
and Mr Nice, finally took a big risk with the announcement that he is
entering the murky world of soccer finances.
Following in the not-so-successful tracks of Terry Venables at
Tottenham Hotspur and Francis Lee at Manchester City, Lineker is
charging to the rescue of his former club, Leicester City. With debts
of pounds 50m, Leicester is the latest football club to be forced
into administration under UK insolvency legislation.
Alongside Greg Clarke, the former chairman of Aim-listed
Leicester, David Ross, the chief operating officer of Carphone
Warehouse, and Jon Holmes, the football agent, Lineker hopes to
rescue Leicester ...
