CORUS, the Anglo-Dutch steel company, has appointed a Frenchman,
Philippe Varin, 50, as chief executive. He replaces Tony Pedder, who
was ousted last month after the Dutch vetoed the sale of the
aluminium division to Pechiney, where Mr Varin was senior executive
vice-president before joining Corus.
Sir Brian Moffat, Corus chairman, will retire on May 31 and be
replaced by deputy chairman Jim Leng.
LLOYDS TSB Group has appointed two non-executive directors: Angela
Knight, chief executive of the Association of Private Client
Investment Managers & Stockbrokers and non-executive director of
LogicaCMG, South East Water, and Port of London Authority; and
