Did you spot me in the newspaper photographs of the 350 nude
people lying down outside the new Saatchi gallery in London last
week? I was the slightly blurred one. It was, of course, a work of
art, arranged by Spencer Tunick who does a lot of this sort of thing.
It was quite controversial - which was my fault. At the crucial
moment, just before the shutter clicked, I said "Cheese". Three
hundred and forty-nine naked people turned on me and glared.
"Disgusting!" they said. And: "What did you have to do that for?" For
a moment I felt very exposed.
"I was just being ironic," I explained.
"This is meant to be post-ironic," an adjacent body pointed out.
