Barry Diller swears he is well and truly done with Hollywood.
Although he had stints running both the Paramount and Fox studios
earlier in his colourful career, Diller is put off by what's on at
the multiplex these days. "I don't know anyone who says anything
other than, `God, these movies are awful'," he says. "They're
[mostly
] exploitative, selling hats and whistles."
His lack of enthusiasm for the product, he maintains, is at least
partly why he stayed on the sidelines and did not put forth his own
bid for Vivendi Universal Entertainment, whose trophy assets are to
be injected into NBC, the broadcaster owned by General Electric, to
