Article: Foreign Office criticised for failing to pass on terrorism warnings to travellers Threat to UK backpackers is published on US State Department website - but not on British Government site, reports David Bamber

THE GOVERNMENT is failing to pass on warnings of serious threats to Britons travelling abroad, including potential terrorist attacks. The Foreign Office has received warnings of specific threats to British visitors to countries including Nepal, Zimbabwe, Kenya and Malaysia, but has not publicly disclosed the information.

In contrast, the State Department in the United States has issued warnings about planned attacks on its citizens in all those countries and has advised them to leave two of them.

In the case of Nepal, Washington has issued a warning that British backpackers are being specifically targeted by Maoist kidnappers - yet the Foreign Office in London has failed to put out the alert.
