Meet the lost white tribe of Africa, descendants of Afrikaner
trekkers who came to Kenya and stayed.
Louisa Woodley has lived all her 78 years in and around this
Rift Valley farming town, watching as the wildlife on the plains
gave way to human settlement and automobiles replaced the ox cart
that she used to ride to school.
Her children want her to leave, to make a new home in South
Africa, but Woodley said she'll stay on "a little bit longer,"
tending lovingly to her collection of five dogs, 30 chickens and the
pet fish she keeps in her bathtub.
J.J. du Toit is staying on too. He manages an expansive farm,
and he said over six decades he has built up a network of African
friends, ...
