If you've just emerged, blinking, from the Eurostar terminal in
Paris, or have time to kill before heading back, why not check out
the neighbourhood? The streets around the Gare du Nord have not
starred in any Hollywood movies (though rue Jarry provides the
setting for a new Bollywood flick, Vijay Singh's One Dollar Curry).
But what they lack in romance they make up for in human diversity.
This lived-in corner of Paris has plenty to offer: an exciting young
chef at Chez Michel; shopping for natural cosmetics and tableware;
the largest covered market in Paris; and the city's most ambitious
new art space.
For a view of Paris rooftops, head for the cascading stairs of the
Vincent Saint-Paul ...
